    Better Youth to Host Its First Tech Distribution Event

    Los Angeles, CA - The SOLA Tech and Entrepreneur Center will host the first inaugural event on Friday, August 25th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

    BETTER YOUTH, the dedicated team of arts education leaders and creative economy professionals who give value and vehicle to emerging creatives aged 16-24, today announced its first-ever Tech Distribution Event sponsored by THE CHANGE REACTION, SKYDANCE MEDIA, ADOBE, and LA COUNTY. Taking place on Friday, August 25 from 5p-7pm at the SOLA Tech and Entrepreneur Center in South Los Angeles, the event will support Better Youth’s state-registered pre-apprenticeship program to train and equip foster and system-impacted youth in Los Angeles County. Supporting vendors include Dell, Apple, and Best Buy.

During this event, thanks to our incredible partners, we will be able to distribute close to 50 laptops, devices, and Adobe Creative Cloud software licenses to our cohort. This is a major milestone in helping to close the digital and diversity divide for vulnerable youth. We are extremely thankful for all of our partners including The Change Reaction as well as Skydance Media, Adobe, SOLA Impact, and LA County. We truly are better together!”

    Better Youth, Inc serves the needs of deserving youth that hail from resilient communities that have been ravaged by systemic racism, discrimination and generational divestment through mentoring and media arts training, providing paid work experiences in the entertainment industry. Their vision is to activate our youth as the next-gen powerhouses of the creative economy.
    In the past year, the program enrollment nearly doubled to 75 youth through a three-year career pathways Care First Community Investment grant from LA County, administered by The Amity Foundation. With 25,000 mentoring hours under their belt, Better Youth has seen a stunning 41% growth rate in student involvement in the last three years. Despite challenges, the annual budget has doubled and the job placement rate has increased by 10% over the last two years. During that time, the cohort has enjoyed work experiences at Lionsgate, Amazon, Skydance Media, Warner Brothers, BET, Disney and DreamWorks to name a few.
    In 2023, Better Youth received a Certificate of Registration as a fully vetted and federally recognized apprenticeship program through the U.S Department of Labor. Better Youth will offer DEI solutions for creative economy employers by cultivating transferable skills and transforming the program youth into a millennial workforce that builds long-term power and sustainability for the creative economy.
